Photochemistry is a fundamental scientific field that bridges diverse areas of chemistry—including organic, inorganic, physical, and polymer chemistry—and connects basic science with industrial applications.
In recent years, photochemistry has played an increasingly important role in key technologies related to electronics, health and medicine, energy, and the environment, contributing to the sustainable development of human society.
Researchers across the Asia–Oceania region have long collaborated to promote academic exchange, share the latest scientific advances, and foster the next generation of scientists.
These efforts led to the establishment of the Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Conference (APC) and the Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Association (APA), as detailed by Prof. Haruo Inou in the “History of the Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Association (APA)”, Photochemistry: Volume 40, SPR Photochemistry (Royal Society of Chemistry).
About APC
The first APC was successfully held in Hong Kong in 1996, followed by conferences in Korea (1999), India (2002), and Australia (2023), among others.
The 13th Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Conference (APC2025) was successfully held in Kochi, India, in October 2025.
Building on this strong tradition, we are pleased to announce that the 14th Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Conference (APC2026) will be held in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, in September 2026, co-organized by the Photochemistry Association of Japan.
