Welcome to Kobe – A City of Culture, Science and Innovation
Nestled between the Rokko Mountains and the Seto Inland Sea,
Kobe is one of Japan’s most scenic and international cities. Since opening its port in 1868, it has thrived as a crossroads of cultures, harmoniously blending Western influence with Japanese tradition. The
Kitano Ijinkan district reflects Kobe’s early global connections, while the modern
Harborland and
Meriken Park areas showcase the city’s vibrant waterfront life. Visitors can also enjoy the lively
Chinatown (Nankin-machi). Kobe is world-famous for its
Kobe beef and also for its
Sake. The Nada district, blessed with pure water from Mount Rokko and ideal brewing conditions, is Japan’s largest sake-producing area. Reborn from the
1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Kobe today symbolizes resilience, harmony, and creativity. We warmly welcome all participants to experience the city’s unique blend of tradition, taste, and inspiration.
